In Barcelona, Spain, Huawei introduced its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Mate Xs.

Coming from Mate X last year, it comes with improved design, better specs, and more features.

On the first look, the device is similar to the Mate X as it also has an identical 8-inch outwards-folding screen (2480 x 2200), a 6.6-inch front fold screen, and a 6.38-inch secondary display.

But, Huawei has improved its hinge design. It is still called the Falcon Wing Design, but it comes with a totally new look. It is made out of a zirconium-based liquid metal that is said to be tougher than steel and more resistant to shock. The Chinese tech giant also claimed that it has 100 components inside to improve and make its fold mechanism stronger.

Under the hood, the foldable phone is powered by Huawei's 2.86GHz 64-bit Kirin 990 5G octa-core processor w/ Triple NPU (2x Big-Core + Tiny-Core), Mali-G76 MP16 w/ GPU Turbo (New-Gen), and built-in Balong 5000 5G modem with multi-mode design (4G/3G/2G support), dual SIM 5G support, and SA/NSA.

Huawei also claimed that it has the Flying Fish Fin cooling system designed for foldable form factors.

The device is paired with 8GB RAM, 512GB storage, and 4,500mAh battery with USB-C 55W SuperCharge technology.
For cameras, it has a 40MP f/1.8 primary camera with ISO 204800, 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide secondary camera, 8MP f/2.4 OIS 3x optical zoom third camera, and a 3D ToF fourth camera.
The phone runs with Android 10 OS with EMUI 10.0.1 skin with a new multi-window mode. The max slimness of the device is 5.4 mm.
The Huawei Mate Xs is priced at EUR 2,499 (around PHP 140K). It will be available globally next month.
