The JerryRigEverything (aka Zack Nelson) put this flagship device through their torture tests, as it did with every highly known device. Unfortunately, the glass display of the Galaxy Z Flip is not as durable as it seems according to the results.

It is said to be typical that display screens fail these torture tests eventually But then, the highly unusual thing is the Galaxy Z Flip did not pass any level, not even the fingernail test.
|
Confirmed, it is glass |
During the first test which is the Moh’s level 2, there were tiny scratches on the screen and they went further. With that, he also noted that if the Galaxy Flip's screen is described to be made of glass, it should behave like glass.
Zack Nelson also implied that Samsung did not use real glass, for Galaxy Z Flip. It appears that the topmost layer of this device is a protective layer made of polymer plastic, which has the same amount of protection a plastic screen protector can give.
Nelson was also able to pierce holes in the screen during the durability test. Aside from that, when he scratched the fingerprint scanner using a cutter, it totally stopped working.

Max Weinbach tweeted a clarification that Samsung is using glass on the Galaxy Z Flip but the glass layer has an extra polymer layer on top of it.

Aside from that, Samsung released a statement in a particular publication explaining that the thin glass layer is topped by a less durable protective layer made of plastic.
Galaxy Z Flip features an Infinity Flex Display with Samsung’s Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) to deliver a sleek, premium look and offer an immersive viewing experience Samsung’s first-of-its-kind UTG technology is different from other Galaxy flagship devices. While the display does bend, it should be handled with care. Also, Galaxy Z Flip has a protective layer on top of the UTG similar to Galaxy Fold.
The South Korean giant also announced that it is offering a one-time display replacement of the display for USD 119 or a free replacement of the protective layer for those who buy this foldable phone.
What are your thoughts about the Galaxy Z Flip's durability and overall design?
