Through an online event, tech titan Huawei has formally launched its newest camera-focused flagship 5G smartphones, the P40 series.

The P40 series is the much-anticipated follow-up to the still impressive P30 family last year.
Huawei's new flagships are packed with dazzling new designs, attractive and beefier specifications, and of course drooling cameras on a phone.

All three phones are powered by the 2.8GHz Kirin 990 5G SoC solution built using the 7nm+ EUV process. This chip comes with with the Mali-G76 MP16 GPU and the Triple NPU (2x Big-Core + Tiny-Core).

Huawei P40 highlights
Huawei P40 features an IP53 rated 3D glass body with a 6.1-inch OLED screen, FHD+ resolution, and an improved In-Display fingerprint reader. It has a punch-hole to house a selfie cam system.

It is paired with 8GB RAM, 128GB expandable storage via NM card, and 3,800mAh battery with USB-C 22.5W wired charging.

For cameras, it sports a Leica triple-cam starring the new 50MP RYYB f/1.9 OIS Ultra Vision Wide camera with 1/1.28-inch size (bigger than the 108MP of Galaxy S20 Ultra), and 16-in-1 fusion technology at 4.48 µm.
It is paired with a 16MP f/2.2 wltra-wide camera, 8MP f/2.4 with 3x optical zoom and a Color Temperature Sensor.
For selfies, it has a single 32MP f/2.2 selfie camera with an IR depth sensor and 4K video recording.
The device also has an advanced WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band GPS, NFC, and dual SIM with eSIM.

In the front, it uses a more impressive 90Hz 6.58-inch Quad-Curve Overflow Display with a super curved design. it has ultra-narrow top and bottom bezels designed for smoother and more comfortable swipes.

It also has a dual punch-hole for its robust selfie camera system that comes with a 32MP f/2.2 AF shooter, IR Depth/Gesture Camera, and Ambient & Proximity Sensor for Auto Focus with Better Bokeh Effect, 4K Selfie Video, Smart Gesture Control (Scroll and Capture), Face Unlock in any light condition, Attention Aware Screen tech.
The P40 Pro has 8GB RAM and a 4,200mAh battery with USB-C 40W SuperCharge, 27W Wireless SuperCharge, and 5W Wireless Reverse Charge.

The cameras? It is even more powerful. It goes with a Leica quad-camera system that uses the same 50MP f/1.9 RYYB Ultra Vision Wide camera, but with OIS. The secondary camera is the same 40MP f/1.8 Ultra Wide Cine Camera from the Mate 30 Pro. The third camera is a 12MP f/3.4 RYYB 5x optical telephoto camera. The last camera is the 3D ToF sensor for more accurate bokeh.
This device has the world's first Octa PD autofocus for faster low light focus in low light, 8 color channels for 45 percent better color precision, AI AWD algorithm, and the XD Fusion Image Engine for enhanced color, dynamic range, and bokeh effect.

The design of this handset is similar to the P40 Pro but with a Nano-Tech Ceramic back cover with seamless curvature, diamond-like shine, and highly scratch resistant sapphire-like toughness.
It also has a larger 512GB storage, faster 40W Wireless SuperCharge tech, and more cameras.
The cameras? This device comes with a Leica penta camera system at the back.

It uses the same 50MP f/1.9 RYYB Ultra Vision Wide Camera, 40MP f/1.9 Ultra Wide Cine Camera, 8MP f/4.4 10x Optical Telephoto Camera with OIS, 8MP f/2.4 3x Optical Telephoto Camera with OIS, 3D ToF Depth Sensing Camera, and a Color Temperature Sensor.
All three phones are powered by Android with the improved EMUI 10.1 skin on top. It comes with HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) with AppGallery instead of GMS.
Huawei also introduced the "Hey Celia" AI voice assistant that can help you identify objects, measure calories, set an alarm, and more.
In Europe, the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will be available from April 7. The P40 is priced at EUR 799 (around PHP 44K) and the P40 Pro goes for EUR 999 (around PHP 55K).
The Huawei P40 Pro+ will be available in June 2020 for EUR 1,399 (around PHP 77.8K).
