Huawei P40 arrived with a total of 3 Leica cameras at the back and a pair of cameras in the front.
The biggest sensor of them all
The biggest sensor of them all

50MP f/1.9 RYYB Ultra Vision Wide w/ Full Pixel Octa PD Autofocus - The main camera sensor of the P40 is the new 50MP f/1.9 RYYB sensor with massive 1/1.28-inch sensor size, 2.44μm pixel size, and 4-in-1 fusion technology.

In comparison, it allows 200 percent more light intake than the iPhone 11 Pro Max with a tiny 1/2.55-inch sensor size.

By the numbers, the resolution of Samsung's 108MP camera is still bigger. But, the Huawei P40 still has a larger 1/1.28-inch sensor size versus Samsung's 1/1.33-inch type sensor. Moreover, Huawei uses an RYYB sensor designed to capture more light and details than the basic RGGB lens of Samsung.

Moreover, this sensor is paired with the world's first Full Pixel Octa PD Autofocus for faster and more accurate focus speeds even in low light.

It also has up to ‭ISO 204,800‬ for low light situations.

16MP f/2.2 Ultra Wide P40's second camera is a 16MP ultra-wide-angle sensor for wide shots. It also has up to 2.5cm macro capability for super close-up images.

8MP f/2.4 3x Optical Telephoto - Using this camera, the P40 can do up to 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom (optical + digital lossless zoom), and 30x max digital zoom.

Color Temperature Sensor w/ AI AWB algorithm and XD Fusion Image Engine - The P40 also uses an advanced Color Temperature Sensor with 8 color channels for up to 45 percent better color precision.

This is powered by Huawei's upgraded ISP (image signal processor) and NPU (neural processing unit) designed to swiftly process huge amounts of information and enhance clarity, dynamic range, bokeh effect, and more at pixel-level at day or night.

For videos, this phone can record up to 4K 60fps with AIS stabilization.

32MP f/2.0 + IR Depth/Gesture Camera - For selfies, the P40 goes with a 32MP f/2.0 sensor for a clear day and night selfies. The IR Depth/Gesture Camera is depth to deliver a pro-level bokeh effect.

This can record up to 4K selfie videos as well.

40MP f/1.8 SuperSensing Cine - It has an improved ultra-wide cam with 1/1.54-inch sensor
size for sharper wide shots and videos as well. Huawei said that it has 16-in-1 fusion technology at 4.48µm and up to ISO 51200 video in low light.

12MP f/3.4 RYYB 5x Optical Telephoto w/ OIS - This one also sports an improved periscope camera with up 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and 50x max zoom.

ToF 3D Depth Sensing - This is designed for real-time depth detection that can create a professional-level bokeh effect.

Huawei P40 Pro: First Camera Samples

For videos, it has up to 4K 60fps, 4K Time-lapse, Telephoto video, Ultra low light video, and Cinematic video camera with multiple features. It has an interesting and Directional Audio Zoom as well.

32MP f/2.2 w/ AF + IR Depth/Gesture Camera - The selfie cam of the P40 Pro is slightly different from the P40. It has a smaller f/2.2 aperture size, but with autofocus.
