To show that you care
According to Facebook EMEA tech comms manager Alexandru Voica, it is the 7th Facebook reaction that its users can use. The new Care Reaction will start rolling out globally next week. It can be used to react to posts, comments, images, videos, and other content on Facebook.
Facebook added that this will be a way for people to hare their support with one another during this unprecedented time.
The reaction showed a smiley emoji hugging a heart.
On Messenger, there's a similar reaction that uses a pulsating purple heart.
To activate the reaction, open the reactions first by long-pressing a message. Then, long-press on the heart reaction and tap okay.
Technically, these reactions won't stop the virus, but it can be used to uplift everyone's spirit as it is a sign that you care.
