XTREME shares tips on how to maintain and disinfect your appliances during quarantine
Maintain the cleanliness of your appliances during the lockdown |
Keep your home appliances well-maintained and sanitized for health and safety
1. Wipe off the dust from TV and sanitize your remote - As for safety, be sure to unplug first the TV and let it cool down for a few minutes before cleaning. Damp a microfiber or soft cloth then start wiping the edges and frames. Avoid using too much pressure as it may cause damage or scratches.

We often use the remote controls and many hands had already touched them. To sanitize a remote control, remove the battery first. Lightly tap it against your palm to discard the dirt inside. Use antibacterial wipes or a cloth damped with alcohol to wipe its surface and buttons.
2. Avoid air conditioner filters to get clogged and dirty - If your air conditioner is not well-maintained, it can give you itchy eyes, headaches, and even respiratory problems. So depending on how often you use it, you should clean it daily, monthly or seasonal. You can hire a professional cleaner or do it by yourself.

First, remove the trim panel or frame to clean the cooling fins with a fin comb. A vacuum is also useful for dust and debris. Let it dry then assemble it back carefully. And lastly, do not use your air conditioner 24/7 as it may deteriorate the compressor and condenser.
3. Refrigerator or food storage should be kept clean - The kitchen is considered the dirtiest part of home so all appliances in it should be sanitized always. We use the refrigerator to store our fresh meat, vegetables, and leftovers. For that reason, it is a must to maintain the freshness of foods to avoid food-borne diseases.
Remove rotten and expired foods to keep your refrigerator smelling fresh |
The first step to do that is always checking the refrigerator for expired items and store the consumables appropriately. Make sure to remove all the contents before cleaning it and remove the drawers so you can wash them with dishwashing liquid.
After that, wipe the interior but using a bar of unscented or mild soap. This is to avoid having problems with a lingering scent that can be absorbed by the food. You can use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar to remove stains.
Then, "rinse" the excess soap by using a damp cloth. Make sure to wash raw food from the supermarket before storing them.
Bonus tip: Eliminate foul odor and maintain it smelling fresh by putting activated charcoal or open baking soda.
