Samsung is one of the few smartphone makers in the world which sells its premium flagships with two different processors, the in-house Exynos chips and Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips.

The Galaxy S20 phones |
Most of the time, US consumers will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon variant while the rest of the world have to settle with the Exynos edition.
Even if they have different chips, the performance should be similar. However, based on benchmark scores, that is not the case. Samsung flagships with Exynos chips have inferior performance against their Qualcomm counterparts even if the devices are priced similarly.
For example, the new Galaxy S20 smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chips have higher scores than Galaxy S20 smartphones with Exynos 990 inside.
Exynos 990 = Snapdragon 865?
But, Samsung claimed that this is not true. In a statement, the South Korean tech giant told SamMobile that the company assures that both versions of their latest high-end smartphones will equally perform.
The Galaxy S20 is a smartphone that's been reimagined to change the way you experience the world and depending on the region, the Galaxy S20 will either ship with the Exynos 990 or the Snapdragon 865. Both the Exynos and Snapdragon processors go through the same strict and rigorous, real-life testing scenarios in order to deliver consistent and optimal performance over the entire lifecycle of the smartphone.
However, proofs from reputable benchmarking sites and media outlets tell a different story.

The new report of magazine and testing site AnandTech also showed that Exynos 990 is not as good as Snapdragon 865. Exynos 990 frequently throttles the GPU and it is not as power-efficient as the Snapdragon 865 S20.
