TikTokU to promote learning through short educational videos starting May 25

On May 25, TikTok will officially kickstart its campaign to share knowledge through short-form videos.

Learning through smartphones 

As a famous platform among the youth, TikTok wants to promote educational content as its means of supporting the community.  With the app’s user-centric design, users can easily produce educational content that is creative, inspiring, and effective.

The app is claimed to be user-friendly in terms of video capturing and editing. TikTok User, Community, and Operations Manager John Castro explained the reason behind launching the campaign. 

The #TikTokU Program is planning to give users access to practical tips and up-to-date knowledge,  from skilled creators in the Philippines.

Aside from that, it will feature a library of educational videos that are less than a minute. Topics will range from learning a new language, quick art tutorial to trivia.

TikTokU will have a contest to select its content creators

TikTokU will also have a contest to search for creators and the first phase will focus on following topics:  Science and Education, DIY and Life Hacks, and Advice and Motivational content. It will group entries into four tracks based on the user’s number of followers.

The four tracks are:

Senior Scholarship: Open to those whose followers are 500k and above on TikTok
Junior Scholarship: Open to those with 100k to 500k followers on TikTok
Sophomore Scholarship: Open to those with 10k to 100k followers on TikTok
Freshman Scholarship: Open to those with under 10k followers on TikTok

The campaign is open to all creators aged 18 and above from the Philippines. If you want to join, just submit entries following these simple rules and guidelines.

First, you have to create at least 3 entries that contain the mentioned themes above. The ideal duration and format of videos are 30 seconds and above, shot on a 9:16 vertical screen.

Videos must adhere to the TikTok community guidelines.

Contestants should follow the guidelines for creating and uploading their entries

Creators who are chosen for the #TikTokU Program will win cash rewards and be invited to the #TikTokU Creator Group.

Also, they will receive development and growth support from TikTok as follows:

Senior Scholarship (5 winners) - PHP 40,000 cash, and 1-to-1 support for 3 months

Junior Scholarship (15 winners) - PHP 30,000 cash, and 1-to-1 support for 3 month
Sophomore Scholarship (30 winners) - PHP 20,000 cash, and 3-month upskilling
Freshman Scholarship (75 winners) - PHP 10,000 cash, and 3-month upskilling

The first round of the #TikTokU Program will run from May 25 to June 15, 2020. Winners will be announced on June 19.
