Peaceful protests against Police Brutality that sparked from the death of George Floyd across the United States of America has escalated to violent rioting and looting by the opportunistic. Included in these violent attacks are Apple stores in Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Philadelphia where looters have stolen whatever product is accessible to take.

But what the looters did not expect is that Apple has been known to use a form of proximity detection software that disables a device that was taken illegally from the Apple store.

Twitter user @onlyfanobtainer tweeted a picture of an alleged stolen iPhone that says "Please return to Apple (store) Walnut Street. This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local Authorities will be alerted."

Forbes says that it is unlikely that these devices will be returned and will more likely be taken apart and sold in separate parts.

Aside from Apple, other premium brand stores have been attacked and looted.
