5G is on

As a quick recap, 5G is known for its three key features namely: large bandwidth, massive connection, and low latency. To give you an idea at how fast 5G connectivity can be—it's fast enough to download a two-hour movie in less than 10 seconds, versus around 7 minutes with 4G.

5G supports up to 1 million connected devices every square kilometer and the latency can reach as low as 1 millisecond. It can be applied widely to different industries such as entertainment, broadcasting, medical, manufacturing, mining, port, and many more.

Huawei's 5G ecosystem

5G connectivity has become the new standard for flagship smartphones globally. At the end of March, Huawei launched its full range of 5G devices in the form of the P40 series

Huawei has a complete 5G end-to-end solution, including 5G foundational technology, 5G network equipment, 5G chips and 5G terminals. As of Q1 2020, we have shipped more than 15 million 5G smartphones worldwide, said Mr. Kevin Ho, President of Handset Product Line, Huawei Consumer Business Group, in an interview with journalists from the Southeast Asia.

Huawei aims to deliver Seamless AI Life by introducing the 1 + 8 + N scenario and distributed technology that enables various devices to talk to each other easily.

From 2009 to 2019, Huawei has invested more than 4 billion USD in 5G research, including chipsets, materials, algorithms, antennae, cooling systems and much more, added Kevin Ho.

Additionally, Huawei has more than 20 percent of all 5G standard-essential patents with more than 21,000 contributions, which is the industry's highest number. It has won over 90 contracts and shipped over 600,000 5G Massive MIMO AAU.

Recently, Huawei has revealed the nova 7i 5G in PH. It is the first mid-range smartphone with the next-generation connectivity in town. The phone makes 5G more accessible to those on a tighter budget.
