NPC reported the sudden surge of fake accounts to Facebook

Privacy Commissioner Raymond Liboro said that the impostor accounts have victimized Filipino data subjects. They also have immediately brought this attention to Facebook.

According to Ms. Clare Amador, the Facebook Representative in the Philippines, they are already investigating this particular matter as well as other information on unauthorized FB accounts.

Facebook was instructed to report its significant findings as soon as possible.

Also, NPC urged Filipinos to report the alleged fake accounts on Facebook.

To recall, an influx of fake accounts surfaced on Facebook PH yesterday. Several users speculated that the scenario is common to users to users that are against the anti-terrorism bill.

But, it could be a conspiracy theory. Several users who don't post anything about the bill have duplicate accounts as well. It could just be a Facebook glitch or bug.

To know how to report fake duplicate accounts, read here. You may also visit this link to further secure your accounts by validating your identity.
