Xiaomi submits a foldable phone patent that looks like the Huawei Mate Xs

Xiaomi has a new foldable smartphone design patent published by the CNIPA last Friday.

First submitted in late-2019, the patent showed a smartphone design that is similar to the Huawei Mate Xs.

LetsGoDigital's enhanced renders revealed that the device sports an outward folding design with a Falcon Wing-like hinge. When opened, the device turns into a tablet with a larger screen. When folded, it transforms into a regular-sized smartphone. At the back, there's a secondary screen where you will see te quad-camera setup.

Since it doesn't have a selfie camera in front, you may use all the four cameras at the back for taking selfies.

The thickest point of the device is the bar which contains all the four cameras of the device and the button to open and unlock the folding mechanism.

While we are unsure yet if Xiaomi will ever release this handset, it is interesting to see that they are still working on foldable phones.

If ever, given Xiaomi's reputation, there's a chance that this will be a more affordable alternative to other expensive foldable from Huawei and Samsung.
