realme, Redmi quick fight
To start off, the realme 6i has two variants a 3GB/64GB variant at PHP 7,990 and a 4GB/128GB variant for PHP 9,990. Redmi Note 9s also has two variants with a 4GB/64GB model for PHP 10,490 and a 6GB/128GB one for PHP 11,990.
Build/Design - realme 6i has a plastic material for the back panel and 2.5D glass with Gorilla Glass 3 protection in front. The sides also have a plastic material used since it has a unibody design. For the ports, it has a 3.5mm audio port, USB-C port, microphone and bottom-firing speaker at the bottom of the device. On the left side, you will find the volume keys and SIM tray. On the right side is the power/lock button. It also has a fingerprint scanner at the back.
For the Redmi Note 9s, it has a glass back panel with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It does have a thicker camera bump than the realme 6i. It has a metallic material for the frame as well. On the right side, it has the volume keys along with the side-mounted fingerprint sensor that also serves as a power button. On the top, it has an IR sensor and mic. You will find the USB-C port, speakers, and 3.5mm jack at the bottom of the device. It also has P2i splash resistance.
In terms of comfortable handling, realme 6i has more grip due to its matte finish.
Display - The Redmi Note 9s has a 6.67-inch 2.5D curved FHD+ LTPS screen with 2400 x 1080 resolution and 395 ppi pixel density. It also has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The realme 6i has a 6.5-inch 2.5D curved LTPS screen with 1600 x 720 HD+ resolution with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and 269 ppi pixel density.
Redmi Note 9s takes the lead here with a sharper FHD+ screen, Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and a punch-hole design. It also has slimmer bezels as well.
Both devices have great color reproduction as well. Both also have respectable brightness as well.
Audio - For the audio, Redmi's linear speaker sounds better in our opinion with a richer sound. For headphone usage, realme 6i has a bit of an edge due to the equalizers it uses. For calls, its a close one as well with clear and crisp audio on both devices.

Specs - For performance, Redmi Note 9s sports the 2.3GHz 8nm Snapdragon 720H octa-core processor, Adreno 618 GPU, up to 6GB LPDDR4X, up to 128GB UFS 2.1 expandable storage, and a 5,020mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
Realme 6i has the 12nm 2.0GHz MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor, Mali-G52 2EMMC2 GPU, up to 4GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB eMMC 5.1 expandable storage, and 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charge.
In terms of CPU and GPU speeds, Redmi Note 9s has a more powerful pairing. It also has a bigger max RAM as well. For the storage and battery though, it is more or less a tie. As a reference, our AnTuTu benchmark results showed the realme 6i with 201,849 points while Redmi Note 9s scored 275,989.
Those who watch a lot on their phones will enjoy the Note 9s better, but the realme 6i could have better battery life due to its lower-res screen.

Cameras - The realme 6i has a quad-camera setup with 48MP f/1.8 w/ PDAF + 8MP f/2.2 119-degree ultra-wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 4cm macro + 2MP f/2.4 mono + LED flash. For selfies, it has a 16MP f/2.0 sensor.

Our thoughts
For performance, Redmi Note 9s takes the cake as it is one of the best in its class. Also, the result is expected since it has a higher price point.
But, realme 6i still managed to put up a good fight in other aspects. That's quite remarkable for a more affordable device.
