For this blind photo test, we placed the Galaxy S20 Ultra (PHP 69,990) against the middle-child of the P40 series, the Huawei P40 Pro (PHP 50,990).

On paper, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is superior in terms of camera resolution. It sports a 108MP f/1.8 main shooter with Dual Pixel and OIS, 12MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra-wide-angle-camera, 48MP f/3.5 with 10x Hybrid Optic Zoom, and OIS, and a 3D ToF sensor. This is the camera phone that has up to 100x digital Space Zoom.

But, if you check it upon closer inspection, the P40 Pro is possibly even better. It is equipped with a 50MP f/1.9 RYYB Ultra Vision Wide primary camera with Full Pixel Octa PD Autofocus and OIS.

It is a massive 1/1.28-inch sensor size that is even larger than the 1/1.33-inch type sensor of Samsung's 108MP shooter. It also uses an RYYB sensor designed to capture more light and details than the basic RGGB lens of Samsung.

Most of the time, having a bigger sensor size is better than larger resolutions. It will allow you to take images with greater dynamic range, achieve more background blur, and brighter low light shots.

The P40 Pro is also equipped with a 40MP f/1.8 SuperSensing Cine, camera, 12MP f/3.4 RYYB 5x Optical Telephoto lens with OIS, and ToF 3D Depth Sensing sensor.

For selfies, S20 Ultra is equipped with a high-resolution 40MP f/2.2 snapper while the P40 Pro comes with a 32MP f/2.2 shooter with AF. It also has an IR Depth/Gesture Camera that helps in bokeh selfie shots.

In general, these two have some of the most impressive camera numbers on mobile phones today. Also, both are loaded with new-generation 7nm chips with advanced image processors.

It should be a GREAT battle.
