Leasing these common towers will help reduce cost and redundant sites that, in turn, will result in lower costs for subscribers.

The telco giant released a statement on Wednesday that its project with tower builders was moving towards the construction phase after sites were confirmed and identified. These tower builders are Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc., ISOC-edotco, CREI Philippines, Transcend Towers Infrastructure, and Frontier Towers & Associates.

The DICT is looking to expedite the construction of cell sites to immediately improve the mobile connections and internet speeds in the Philippines which is crucial especially with the new normal lifestyles that are geared toward digital media. DICT is looking to increase cell sites from 20,000 to 50,000 new towers in the next years.

300 macro sites will be completed for deployment in North and South Luzon as well as 400 more sites to be assigned within the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
