LG UltraGear 24GL600F-B Review - Great quality 1080p 144Hz gaming monitor
Valorant at 1080p 144Hz gaming |
LG has finally brought its UltraGear gaming monitor line with 144Hz and 1ms response time to the Philippines.
We got to spend a month with the 24-inch model that features a 23.6-inch TN panel with 1920 x 1080p resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and supports RADEON FreeSync.
It is priced at only PHP 12,699 and is now available at authorized LG retailers and distributors nationwide.
On paper, it looks to feature Panel performance as its focus. Let's dive into the review!
Unboxing/Accessories
It comes in a brown box and inside is the monitor, documentation, manual CD, HDMI to HDMI cable, Display Port 1.2 to Display Port cable, stand (feet and arm), and external power adapter.

Build Quality/Design
Black color with red accents! |
The new 24-inch UltraGear is made of polycarbonate, glass, and metal. The outer shell is mostly made of black polycarbonate with red trim and accents. The front panel is made of glass while inside a polycarbonate shell is a metal frame.
Metal hinge and frame inside the stand |
Inner metal frame |
The stand has the same black and red polycarbonate outer shell but with a metal inner frame. This combination makes it sturdy, durable, and lightweight.
Smooth left and right side |
The right and left side are mostly smooth and is made up of a front panel, middle panel, and back panel.
Rear ports |
At the back of the monitor are the ventilation vent, VESA mount, regulatory information, Display Port, two HDMI ports, 3.5mm headphone port, and power-in port.
Bottom side |
Control knob |
At the bottom of the monitor are the Kensington lock and the directional control knob.
Front panel when turned off |
The top, side, and bottom bezels are around half an inch thick and it protrudes forward compared to the display panel. On the bottom bezel is the LG logo.
The stand allows for tilting up and down but the monitor cannot be rotated 90 degrees.
Multimedia Experience and Performance
The specs translate well with our experience, the panel is bright enough to let content on the monitor be read indoors but may struggle with bright sunlight through windows.
The colors are not as accurate as LG's 34WL85C-B Curved UltraWide IPS that we reviewed recently. This monitor's color performance is good enough for basic web surfing, Microsoft office work, and non-HDR gaming.
It is worth noting that the panel is brightest is consistently uniform in the middle of the display while the edges tend to be darker than the rest of the panel. For gamers, this isn't much of a concern as the target or crosshair is in the middle of the panel.
The TN panel has a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz and it has 1ms response times which makes this monitor ideal for fast-paced games. This is perfect for gamers who want to have the fastest possible panel to give them an edge in multiplayer games.
In our experience, the best setting or mode is when placed in 'Fast' as it has the fastest performance while maintaining minimal ghosting or artifacts.
The main concern of the panel is its color accuracy, the stand has a limited tilt-range and the limited viewing angle of 170 degrees from left to right and 160 degrees from up to down. This means that the user has to be directly in front of the panel. But for the price, most of these concerns are common with monitors at this price range.
Cons - Stand has limited tilt range, not for color-sensitive play or work
