Royole Flexpai 2 now official with new hinge and under USD 1.5K price tag

Royole just announced the Flexpai 2, an updated and improved version of its first foldable smartphone. It now has a better hinge and screen.

What the back and front look

Royole was the very first company to release a foldable phone. Yes, even before Samsung or Huawei. However, the company chose to stay at home in China and did not launch the first Flexpai globally.

The Flexpai 2 has the Cicada Wing 3S design. Royole boasts that the design is as smooth as a mirror with no creases even after 1.8 million folds. Unfolded, the screen measures at 7.8 inches with a 4:3 aspect ratio and 1440p resolution. When folded, the front side becomes a 5.5-inch screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio while the back becomes a 5.4-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Inside, it sports a Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 512GB UFS 3.0 storage, and a 4,450mAh battery with USB-C 18W Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology. For cameras, it has a quad-camera setup on the left-hand side with a 64MP f/1.9 main sensor with 6P lens + 16MP 116-degree  ultra-wide-angle lens + 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom + 32MP dedicated portrait lens.

It has WiFi 6, 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, and a USB-C Gen 3.1 port.

China price with direct to PHP conversion (no taxes and duties yet):

Royal Flexpai 2 8GB/256GB - CNY 9,988 (around PHP 71K)

Royal Flexpai 2 12GB/512GB - CNY 11,588 (around PHP 83K)

It is available in Silver, Black, and Gold. It is going to start shipping in China starting September 25, 2020.

There's no word if the Royole Flexpai 2 will be available globally.
