To find the song stuck in your head

We all know how frustrating it is when you can’t remember the name of a song or any of the words but the tune is stuck in your head. But if you can hum it out loud, Google Search may help you identify it in just a matter of seconds.

How does this technology work? Imagine the song's melody as a fingerprint that each has a unique identity. Google created machine learning models that are able to match your hum or whistle to the right melody. These models are trained to characterize songs based on various sources like a person singing, whistling, or humming, including studio recordings.

To solve your earworm, tap on your mobile device and open the latest version of the Google app. If your voice assistant is already activated, you can just say out loud to your device: "Hey Google, what's this song?"

The other option is tapping on the Google Search widget then tapping the mic icon. After that, you can say "what's this song?" or just click the "Search a song" button. Next is to start humming the tune for 10-15 seconds.

There's no need to have the perfect pitch in able to do this After you're done with that, the machine learning algorithm will generate potential song matches. You can now select the best match based on what you think.

Google also provides information about the song and artist. It also lets you watch music videos or listen to the song on a music app or find the exact lyrics.

This feature is currently available in English on iOS, and in more than 20 languages on Android. Google is planning to add more languages in the future.

What do you guys think?
