In 2018, Netflix announced that the popular Filipino graphic novel series 'TRESE' will be getting an anime adaption by Netflix Director for International Original Anime, Taito Okiura. At the helm of the production Jay Oliva who worked on Wonder Woman and The Legend of Korra.
Fast forward to October of 2020, Netflix Philippines posted on its official Facebook page two images that depict the Graphic Novel's protagonist Alexandra Trese. The first image is of Alexandra starring into a Philippine city Skyline while the second image is of Alexandra seemingly defending herself with a kris-knife like weapon.
Netflix has already listed TRESE on its website with the category of Horror Anime and with the following Sypnosis: When the cops are stumped, Alexandra Trese is there to protect Manila from threats of the supernatural kind. Based on the award-winning Filipino Comic.
