Counterpoint: realme is the fastest to reach 50 million smartphone sales

Counterpoint's latest report showed that realme is the fastest brand to reach the 50 million smartphone sales mark. Also, the company remained the quickest growing mobile maker in the world.

Fastest to reach 50 million mark data

The data showed that realme only needed 9 quarters to breach the 50 million mark. It bested Samsung's record of 10 quarters to achieve the same number of smartphone sales.

Counterpoint Q3 2020 data

realme also recorded a MASSIVE 132 percent QoQ (quarter on quarter) growth in Q3 2020, the fastest among all smartphone brands in the world at the moment. It is the strongest growth momentum among major global OEMs.

This is a massive number for the newcomer brand which translates to 4 percent of the global market share for the number 7 spot. In comparison, realme is even bigger than Lenovo, LG, TECNO, and others including Sony, Nokia, HTC, and more.

Samsung remains to be the leader with 22 percent of the market share followed by Huawei with 14 percent. Huawei drove more than 40 percent of the total 5G shipments, thanks to strong performance in China.

For the first time, Xiaomi bested Apple for the number 3 spot. OPPO and vivo are in a very tight race at number 5 and 6 spots with 8 percent of the market share.
