Canalys: 2-year-old realme is on top of the Philippine smartphone market in Q3 2020!

realme did the unexpected. Global market research firm Canalys reported that realme, a 2-year-old mobile brand reached the top of the Philippine smartphone market in Q3 2020.

Philippine-based tech site Revü broke the news and its report showed that according to the Canalys data, realme bested vivo to become the top smartphone vendor in the Philippines in Q3 2020.

realme registered a massive annual growth of 531 percent to get 25 percent of the local smartphone market share during the said period. vivo, despite its 103 percent growth fell to the number 2 spot with 21 percent.

At number 3 is Samsung with 14 percent annual growth and 18 percent of the share. OPPO declined by 35 percent with a 13 percent unit share.

The first-timer on the top 5 is Xiaomi with a stellar annual growth rate of 223 percent which translates to 8 percent of the market share.

Based on the latest Smartphone Analysis of Canalys (sell-in shipments), the biggest winners are realme, Vivo, and Xiaomi.

Top 5 smartphone vendors in the Philippines Q3 2020:

1. realme - 25 percent unit share (531 percent annual growth)
2. vivo - 21 percent unit share (103 percent annual growth)
3. Samsung - 18 percent unit share (14 percent annual growth)
4. OPPO - 13 percent unit share (-35 percent annual growth)
5. Xiaomi - 8 percent unit share (223 percent annual growth)

realme is very aggressive in releasing smartphones in nearly every price segment. Just recently, the brand launched in the bang-for-the-buck Narzo. What realme achieved in such a short time is remarkable for a new brand. realme is the youngest mobile player on this list.

vivo, on the other hand, is expanding its 5G lineup with the introduction of the V20 Series and the X50 Series.

Xiaomi continues to wow the public with left and right bang-for-the-buck releases almost every month. Its most recent device is the cheapest Snapdragon 865-powered device in the country—the Mi 10T Series.
