AMD and Samsung strengthening ties?

Previously, we reported that Samsung and AMD are working together for better mobile graphics.

Notebook Check reports that Twitter user '@harukaze5719' spotted a post from South Korean tech forum Clein which claims that AMD is looking to tap Samsung to manufacture some of its future APUs and GPUs.

As Clien is an open forum where just about anybody can post, take this information with a grain of salt. It is also worth noting that Clien has become a source for accurate predictions before.

Given the current massive success of the recent 3rd and 5th generation Ryzen products, AMD wants to ramp up production. But because TSMC has its hands full with Apple's massive orders of 5nm chips, AMD is looking to Samsung to manufacture instead.

This could result in AMD is one of the first companies to utilize Samsung's upcoming 3nm facilities. The Clien post also said that AMD is taking its time and is currently weighing its options as transitioning to a new fabrication factory is an expensive undertaking.

AMD however doesn't have a lot of time as TSMC is already soliciting Apple and Intel's aid for its 2nm node research which may result in Apple and Intel getting higher priority.

As mentioned above, take this information with a grain of salt as until AMD or Samsung make an official announcement, this information is still considered as rumors.

What do you guys think?
