Globe posted solid network upgrades last year, vows to build more infra this year

Globe to build more network infra this year

Globe shared that it has rolled out more cell sites and fiber to the home in 2020 versus 2019.

In particular, the company built 1,300 more cell sites last year. It is up by 18 percent versus FY19. Globe also equipped 11,500+ sites with 4G LTE that is up by 14 percent compared to FY19.

Globe also claimed that its fiber to the home rollout is up by 275 percent versus last year.

Lastly, Globe noted that it made its 5G network available to 1,045 areas last year. The company built 848 sites in Metro Manila and Rizal and 183 sites in Visayas and Mindanao.

Likely, President Rodrigo Duterte's mandate to speed up the permitting process late last played an important part in helping Globe speedup its network upgrade. 

This 2021, Globe vows to build more 4G/5G sites as well as more fiber lines. 

Recently, Globe shared that it will boost its investments this year. Globe President and Chief Executive Officer Ernest Cu noted that they will spend about PHP 70 billion this year. Most of them will be used for building more network infra.
