Duterte said that Ernest Cu told him that "you could not do that Mr. President, there are no towers available because the telcos are waiting for the permits to be approved by the local government."

Ernest personally went to the President and showed the officials the numerous permits Globe needed to acquire just to build 1 tower.

A welcome development

He stressed that it takes 25 to 29 permits including miscellaneous fees and special towers fees to build 1 tower in 8 months.

President Duterte agreed and said that he will order the cabinet to find the most drastic measure to fix these problems.

The government answers back promising a resolution to reduce processing to a maximum of 20 days from 200 days in the past.

DILG Sec. Año earlier said that a Joint Memorandum Circular from ARTA, DICT, DILG, DPWH, CAAP, DOH, and FDA will make the issuance of permits a lot easier and will now be streamlined.

Año added that resolutions from Homeowners and Sangguniang Bayan won't be required in the future.

Globe built a record of 1,500 towers last year. Cu said that he believes that PLDT built the same amount of towers.

If the government can implement this promise as soon as possible, we can expect signal reception and better overall signal quality all over the country in the near future.
