According to AI Benchmark's updated list of top-performing smartphones in AI benchmarking tests, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G has bested Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 9000 and Samsung's Exynos 2100.

AI-Benchmark is a benchmarking app that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

The benchmark runs over 46 AI and computer vision tests performed by neural networks inside the smartphones. It measures over 100 different aspects of AI performance which include speed, accuracy, initialization time, and more.

Some of these tests include object and face recognition. You can read more about these tests at this link.

At the top of the list is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 that scored over 237.3 This is a considerable leap over the former champion, the Huawei Kirin 9000 from the Huawei Mate 40 Pro that scored 216.6.

In fourth and fifth place is the Exynos 2100 from the Samsung Galaxy S21Ultra and S21+ with a score of 170.4 and 170.1 respectively. This means that the Exynos 2100 scored more than 60 points behind the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in terms of AI capability.

Unfortunately, Samsung's best chip can't compete with Qualcomm and Kirin in terms of AI performance.

Qualcomm deserves some praise as its predecessor the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 in the Asus ZenFone 7 scored only 96.3. Qualcomm effectively nearly tripled its performance in one generation and bested Huawei's Kirin who has held the top spot for years.
