Global tech giant Huawei today announced the newest member of the Mate 40 series—the Mate 40E 5G.

But it has IP53 water resistance only. In front, it uses a smaller 6.5-inch curved OLED screen with FHD+ 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, punch-hole for the 13MP front camera, and an In-Display fingerprint reader for unlocking the phone.
Inside, it is powered by the 7nm Kirin 990E SoC. This is the same chip found on the Mate 30E Pro with up to 2.86GHz clock speed as well as Cortex A76 cores now go up to 2.36GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 cores at 1.95GHz. The GPU is down to Mali-G76 MP14 instead of MP16 though.
This is paired with 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB expandable storage via NM card slot, and a 4,200mAh battery with up to USB-C 40W wired and wireless SueprCharge. It also has a reverse charging tech with unspecified charging speeds.
Apart from the Mate 40E 5G, Huawei also announced a lower-end version of the Mate 40 RS Porsche Design Edition with 8GB/256GB storage.
