Unboxing/Accessories

Inside the box
Inside the box

We received a review unit from ASUS HQ and thus the box and the inclusions will be different from the PH retail unit.

Our box is rectangular in shape and opens like previous ROG Phone boxes with a folding-out top panel that is locked by magnets.

Inside the box is the ROG Phone 5, lightweight bumper case, SIM ejector tool, ROG swag stickers, USB Type-C to Type-C braided cable, and 65W wall charger.

There are no other documents and there is no replacement rubber cover for the side port of the ROG Phone 5.

Build Quality/Design

The new ROG Phone 5 features high-quality materials like Glass, metal, polycarbonate, and rubber across the whole phone. The front and back panel is made of glass while in between is a metal frame.

When you hold the phone in your hands, the phone is hefty and solid. It's heavier than it looks. In a good way.

Stunning design for a gaming smartphone!

At the back of the ROG Phone is a beautiful glass panel with primarily a white color with gaming accent graphics all around. On the top left side are the 64MP, 13MP ultra-wide, and macro camera with LED flash.

In front is the Samsung-made AMOLED panel with an In-Display fingerprint scanner and with a 144Hz refresh rate. The side bezels are super slim bezels while the top and bottom bezels are thick enough to house the 24MP selfie camera, earpiece, and stereo speakers.

The camera can record up to 8K or 4k 60fps with video stabilization.
Aero Active Cooler

Unlike previous ROG Phones, the Aero Active Cooler is no longer included in the box. It does however feature new features like trigger buttons and a kickstand. It has a 3.5mm audio jack for wired headphones enthusiasts.

As of the moment

As of this article's writing, there is no information yet on storage variants, pricing, and availability of the ROG Phone 5. We will all have to wait until the official launch this April 10.

But so far, we are loving the ROG Phone 5 for its fancy packaging and gaming-focused features. We enjoyed the glass and metal build materials along with the gaming features like the 144Hz refresh rate and stereo speakers. Out of the box, it may be the best stereo experience we've had yet.

What do you guys think?
