MediaTek, Samsung announces the first WiFi 6E capable 8K TV

MediaTek and Samsung introduced the world's first 8K QLED TV with WiFi 6E. It is the Samsung 8K QLED Y21 powered by MediaTek's MT7921AU chip.

This is a follow-up to the companies' collaboration in 2020 that brought out the first WiFi 6-enabled 8K QLED TV. The MT7921AU chipset supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 from a single platform. It can reach speeds up to 1.2Gbps which will give consumers a smoother streaming experience. 

WiFi 6E is designed to make use of uncongested bandwidth in the 6GHz spectrum. It also features improvements from previous generations such as faster multi-gigabit data throughput, lower latencies, and the latest security and connection reliability features.

Samsung chose to partner with MediaTek due to the latter's reputation as a frontrunner in WiFi technology. Its innovations were featured in mobile devices, audio solutions, PCs, and now Samsung's 8K QLED TVs.
