realme 8 5G with MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC now official!

realme today launched the 5G version of the realme 8 in Thailand. This is one of the few occasions where a Dimensity-powered phone escapes outside of China.

Affordable realme 5G phone in Southeast Asia?

The device is different from the AMOLED realme 8 with the Helio P95 chip in India.

This goes with a Supersonic Blue and Supersonic Black curved back design with no "DARE TO LEAP" label, 6.5-inch LCD with 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, FHD+ resolution, Dragontrail glass protection, and a punch-hole housing the 16MP f/2.1 selfie sensor with Face unlock tech.

Inside, the device is powered by the 7nm 2.2GHz MediaTek Dimensity 700 octa-core processor, Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, and a built-in 5G modem. It also has 4GB/8GB RAM with Dynamic RAM Expansion tech that increases its capacity to 5GB and 11GB, respectively. The storage is at 128GB, but it is expandable with a dedicated microSD slot up to 1TB.

For battery, it has a 5,000mAh cell which promises up to 21 hours of video playback + a USB-C 18W charger.

For cameras, this uses a 48MP f/1.8 Samsung GM1 main shooter, 2MP f/2.4 4cm macro lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 mono portrait lens. Of course, it has an LED flash.

It also has a fingerprint scanner on the side, a 3.5mm headphone slot, 

In terms of durability, realme noted that it underwent 320+ quality tests.

This phone measures 162.2 x 74.8 x 8.5 mm and weighs 185 grams.

Aiming to bring its affordable 5G phones outside2 of China, its 8GB/128GB version will retail at just BHT 10,000 (around PHP 15.4K) in Thailand. There's no word about the price of its 4GB/128GB version yet.

Since Thailand is a neighboring country, we are keeping our fingers crossed. Hopefully, relame will bring it to the Philippines as well.
