Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Unboxing and First Impressions

Here are our unboxing and first impressions of the new Mi 11 Lite with a super slim design from Xiaomi Philippines. 

Mi 11 Lite

Announced in late April 2021, the new Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite has arrived and we are excited to see it in person. Out of the box, it is one of the sleekest smartphones in 2021 yet.

To recap, the Mi 11 Lite features a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 2400 x 1080 resolution. Inside is the 8nm Snapdragon 732G octa-core processor, Adreno 618, LPDDR4X, UFS 2.2, 64MP rear-triple rear camera, 16MP selfie camera, 4,250mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

Unboxing/Accessories

Box inclusions

The Mi 11 Lite comes in a matte textured white box with grey text and logos, and a purple "11" logo. 

Inside the box is the Mi 11 Lite, 33W wall charger, USB Type-A to Type-C cable, silicone case, SIM ejector tool, USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio jack dongle, and documentation.

Build Quality/Design

Back panel

The Mi 11 Lite is made of a combination of glass, glasstic, and polycarbonate. In front is the glass while at the back is the glasstic panel. In between the two is the lightweight but solid polycarbonate frame with a glossy finish.

Eye-catching design, super slim body, pretty good specs!

When I first held the Mi 11 Lite and noticed how light it is. It's surprising how Xiaomi managed to design a phone with all that spec inside a 160.53 x 75.73 x 6.81 mm body that weighs 157 grams.

Netflix on screen

In front is a large 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 2400 x 1080 resolution, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. On the top left corner of the display is the selfie camera. On top of the panel is the super slim slit where the earpiece is.

Top and bottom

At the top of the phone are the microphone port and the IR blaster while at the bottom are the SIM tray, USB Type-C port, microphone port, and speaker grill.

The SIM tray can carry up to two nano-SIM cards or one nano-SIM and one microSD card.

Left and right side

On the left side is a smooth surface while on the right side is the volume rocker and the power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

At the back is a triple rear camera set-up made up of a 64MP f/1.79 main camera, 8MP f/2.2 119-degree ultra-wide camera, and 5MP f/2.4 3-7cm tele-macro camera with LED flash.

The included camera app includes the following modes: Photo, Video, Pro, Night, 64M, Short Video, Panorama, VLOG, Slow motion, Documents, Dual Video, Movie Effects, Long Exposure, Clone, and Time-lapse. The camera's Pro mode includes controls for the white balance, focus, shutter speed, ISO, EV, and lens.

Running the show is the Android 11-based MIUI 12.0.8 with major visual and under-the-hood changes that look great while feeling fast.

THE GIZGUIDE website on the MI 11 Lite

In the Philippines, Mi 11 Lite is priced at PHP 14,990. Aside from its specs, the key selling point of this phone is the lightweight and super slim body. 

Out of the box, the Mi 11 has an eye-catching super slim design with a unique camera module design. We are excited to put it thru our regular series of tests but out of the box, I most looking forward to the battery and thermal cooling performance of the phone.

Aside from that, the Mi 11 Lite is competitive in its price category.
