New video resolution settings for Android and iOS make YouTube viewing better
Previously, when you tap Quality from the settings drop-down, you will see all available resolutions to view the video content. With the new video quality settings YouTube has rolled out, you can enjoy content in a quality that's best for your internet connection without the confusing numbers.
Under the Quality menu of each video, instead of the resolutions, users will be greeted by four options—all of which are pretty straightforward.
- Auto - automatically adjusts the video resolution according to your internet connection
- Higher picture quality - better video quality but will also use up more data. Perfect if you’re connected to Wi-Fi.
- Data saver - will set the video resolution to either 480p or 720p and will consume less data
- Advanced - shows you a list of all the video resolutions from 360p to 4K depending on the uploaded video quality
