ASUS Zenfone 8 is a device featuring the IP68 water and dust resistant body measuring at just 148.68.5 x 8.9 mm and weighing 169 grams, this handset is one of the smallest and easiest to hold high-end devices around.

But despite its compact size, this is a powerful phone. The handset boasts a 5.9-inch FHD+ Gorilla Glass Victus protected punch-hole display with 120Hz refresh rate, 1100 nits peak brightness, 112 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, Delta E<1 color accuracy, and 1,000,000: 1 contrast ratio in front.

Inside, it is powered by the flagship SD888 chipset with up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM (6400 Mbps data transfer rate LPDDR5 which is 16 percent faster than other DDR5 memory) and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Despite its small body and slim frame, ASUS was able to squeeze 4,000mAh large cell inside with 30W charging via USB-C.

For cameras, it is quite powerful as well. This is equipped with the 64MP f/1.8 Sony IMX686 w/ PDAF, OIS + 12MP f/2.2 Sony IMX683 w/ Dual PD autofocus, 4cm macro + LED flash at the back, and a 12MP Sony IMX663 w/ Dual PD autofocus selfie cam in front. The main shooter has up to 8K video recording at 24fps w/ EIS + OIS.

Meanwhile, the Zenfone 8 Flip is the higher-end offering.

It uses a Dual Layer Optical Coating Process in Galactic Black, Glacier Silver at the back as well as an all-screen 6.67-inch 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 6 protected Super AMOLED screen w/ 90Hz refresh rate, 200Hz touch sampling rate, 1ms response time, HDR10+, FHD+ 2400 x 1080 FHD+ resolution at 395 ppi. This also has 1000 nits peak brightness, 110 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, Delta E<1 color accuracy, and 1,000,000: 1 contrast ratio. The screen-to-body ratio of this all-screen display is 92 percent.

Staying true to its name, it has a flip camera module with 3 cameras in total. The benefit of this is it will allow the user to use all its cameras with all its modes either for rear shooting or selfies.

In particular, it has a 64MP f/1.8 Sony IMX686 w/ PDAF + 12MP f/2.2 Sony IMX683 w/ Dual PD autofocus, 4cm macro + 8MP 3x optical zoom + dual LED flash triple-camera configuration with up to 8K video recording and Motion Tracking video (4K UHD video at 60 fps).

ASUS claimed that its motorized flip design can survive 300,000 flips or around 5 years of usage.

The two devices also have a 3.5mm jack, stereo audio, Qualcomm Aqstic WCD9385, and Hi-Res Audio.

Euro price with direct to PHP conversion (no taxes and duties yet):

ASUS Zenfone 8 - Starts at EUR 599 (around PHP 35.6K)
ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip - Starts at EUR 799 (around PHP 46.2K)

ASUS told team GIZGUIDE that the Zenfone 8 series will be available to more regions than their previous releases.

To recall, the company didn't launch the Zenfone 6 and Zenfone 7 phones in PH.

But this time, the company is planning to introduce these new premium smartphones to the Philippine market as well. This is the first time the company will launch a Zenfone country two years after the Zenfone Max M2 in 2019.

Stay tuned!
