Cignal Broadband Service even in areas without land-based networks?
The Tweet hasn't revealed the details of the new service yet. But in December, PLDT's wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. has tapped Cignal TV, Inc. to provide satellite broadband services for areas without land-based networks.

Allegedly, it will be called Cignal Connect |
BusinessWorld reported in December 2020 that Smart will be using Cignal's very small aperture terminal (VSAT) technology to provide services for subscribers in areas with low to no data coverage. Cignal shared that the VSAT services of Smart are active across the Philippines including Batanes and some areas in Palawan and Tawi-Tawi.
Meanwhile, rival Globe earlier shared in March 2021 that it is working with US-based Curvalux in an effort to bring internet services to remote areas in the Philippines.
There's no info regarding the pricing and type of broadband plans that Cignal will offer yet.
