Globe Telecom chief executive officer Ernest Cu said the telco experience should not solely be based on speed, but the overall experience. This, as the head of PLDT, blamed the country's weak rankings on its competitors.

Globe chief: Speed, not only the determinant of telco experience
A day after PLDT CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan made the remark, Cu in a virtual briefing said he would be "very careful about making statements" as they are both legacy telcos competing with fiber internet company Converge ICT Solutions Inc.
The Globe chief stressed: "It's not all about speed."
It's really about what you should experience, Cu said.
Pangilinan, in an earlier presser, said that if PLDT was the only player, the country's ranking would be "15 places higher".
Data from OOkla's global speed ranking for March showed that the Philippines secured the 81st and 86th ranks for fixed broadband and mobile, respectively.
Speed is not only the determinant of customer experience. After a certain speed, just like the top speed of cars, it becomes irrelevant. What's more relevant is it gets you where you're going, the Globe executive said.
Cu also said Globe has been noted by streaming giant Netflix for "having a better video experience". He added Globe even has "better availability and better consistency experience."
