Smart Communications claims to offer the widest 5G network with over 3,000 sites

PLDT's wireless arm Smart Communications has expanded its 5G network coverage with more than 3,000 sites as of May.

This development, Smart said, solidified its status as the Philippines' fastest and widest 5G network.

It is up from the 2,600 sites nationwide last April 2021.

While mainly were deployed in urban areas, the company also powered far-flung and mountainous areas, such as Brgy. Linut-od in Argao in Cebu, with 5G sites.

Residents in Brgy. Linut-od, for instance, is now allowed to access telemedicine services.

As we expand our network across the country, we are enabling more Filipinos to benefit from services such as telemedicine, which can be enhanced by 5G. Our accelerated 5G rollout is part of our continuous efforts to upgrade and expand our network, ensuring that we deliver the best data experience to our customers in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, said Mario G. Tamayo, Head of Technology at PLDT and Smart.

To complement this expansion, the group's Unli 5G offer now covers all Smart 5G sites nationwide.

From its initial selected sites covering Metro Manila, Angeles City, Baguio City, Cavite City, Cebu City, Clark City, and Davao City, Smart’s Unli 5G offer is now available to customers at over 3,000 Smart 5G locations around the country, including Batangas, Bacolod, Boracay, Cagayan de Oro, Laguna, Pampanga, Pangasinan, and Quezon.
