The first vivo smartphone with ZEISS optics in the Philippines will be the X60

Back in December 2020, vivo formally announced its long-term partnership with German optical manufacturer Carl Zeiss AG (ZEISS) to co-engineer mobile imaging technologies. Fast-forward to May 2021, vivo is finally preparing to launch its phone with such tech in the Philippines starting with the X60.

A deep partnership to take vivo's camera game to the next level

To recap, the vivo | ZEISS Co-engineered Imaging System are optical components for vivo high-end products. The new vivo X60 is one of them.

It comes with ZEISS Vario-Tessar lenses featuring the T* anti-reflective coating and ZEISS' 3D PoP algorithms for bokeh rendering. vivo Philippines also shared that the vivo X60 will have stunning night photography, professional motion shots, and the introduction of HD panoramic shots among its pioneering smartphone camera features.

The X60 uses a 48MP f/1.79 Sony IMX598 sensor w/ PDAF and 5-axis OIS + 13MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra-wide-angle w/ 2.5cm macro + 13MP f/2.46 portrait + LED flash as well as a 32MP f/2.45 shooter in front.

vivo noted that it has a super large f/1.48 (X60 Pro) aperture and a high precision noise reduction algorithm for better low light images. It even has the Extreme Night Vision 2.0 that allows "stunning night shots" even if it's pitch-dark outside along with an HDR Super Night Portrait that can optimize clear focus even in low light.

Also, it has optimal optical image stabilization which stabilizes images even without a tripod. It also has the Pro Sports Mode makes it possible to capture fast actions in fast focus.

vivo shared that the partnership also aims to expand current widely used features such as an improved panoramic shot using the Super Pano tech, crisper wide-angle photography, Super Moon scene via zoom. This even has a pro mode for manually configuring white balance, focus, ISO.

The X60 will be available soon in the country in vivo stores nationwide. Blind pre-order will start on May 15.
