OnePlus to integrate organization with OPPO

Lau said that to give the highest quality OnePlus experience, the company will have a deeper integration with OPPO, another prominent global mobile maker from China.
A new journey for OnePlus?
A new journey for OnePlus?

If this sounds like a shock, it isn't really that surprising as OnePlus, OPPO, vivo, realme, and iQOO are companies under the mega umbrella of BBK Electronics. Combined, the group is even bigger than the current "global market leader" Samsung in terms of market share.

Also, Lau also took on some additional responsibilities to oversee product strategy for both OnePlus and OPPO last year.

He said that they decided to further integrate the OnePlus organization with OPPO after seeing a positive impact from integrating a number of our teams together with OPPO to better streamline operations and capitalize additional shared resources.

I'm confident that this change will be positive for our community and our users. With this deeper integration with OPPO, we will have more resources at hand to create even better products for you. It will also allow us to be more efficient, for example, bringing faster and more stable software updates for OnePlus users.

Despite this "merger-sounding" move, Pete Lau stressed that OnePlus will continue to operate independently.

The company will continue launching OnePlus products, holding events, and engaging directly with its user base through the same OnePlus channels as before. Lastly, Lau noted that the company's commitment to its customers remains the same.
