Most smartphones now have cameras that are great for taking photos. The OPPO Reno5 4G has a quad-camera setup with 64MP f/1.7 w/ PDAF and EIS + 8MP f/2.2 119-degree ultra-wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 w/ 4cm macro + 2MP f/2.4 mono + LED flash. The Reno5 4G has a 44MP f/2.4 selfie camera while the Reno5 5G has a 32MP f/2.4 selfie sensor. 

In terms of modes, both have plenty of shooting modes like the Night mode, Ultra Steady, Dual View, and even Night mode for videos.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 features a quad-camera setup with 64MP f/1.8 with PDAF + 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens + 5MP f/2.4 macro + 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor with LED flash. It has a 32MP f/2.08 selfie sensor.

Both the OPPO Reno5 4G Samsung Galaxy A71 are currently priced at PHP 18,999. The Reno5 4G, at the time of posting the video, was on sale for only PHP 16,999.

The two are capable of shooting 4K videos at 30FPS. The Reno5 4G was able to shoot a wider 4K video allowing it to fit more in the frame. The Galaxy A71 may appear smoother at first but deeper inspection will reveal softer details and a narrower field of view.

The Galaxy A71 was able to take a lead in 4K Ultra-wide videos. It was able to produce videos with truer colors and better exposure. It is wider as well. The Reno5 4G's ultra-wide footage is a bit too bright for our taste.

In terms of autofocus, the Reno5 4G provided a faster performance than the Galaxy A71 in similar situations. In terms of stabilization, the Reno5 4G can shoot 1080p 60FPS in Ultra Steady mode. The Galaxy A71 Super Steady mode at 1080p 60FPS is also good and even has a wider FOV. The Reno5 4G also has the Ultra Steady Pro mode for stabilized ultra-wide videos.

In terms of Slo-Mo, both devices were able to record 960FPS videos or 32X slow-motion videos at 720p. The Galaxy A71 pulls ahead here with better picture quality. Both devices struggled at night. By default, Reno5 4G shots are crispier while the Galaxy A71 has softer and narrower video but with better saturation.

The Reno5 4G has a trick up its sleeve with the Ultra Night Video mode that makes low-light videos brighter without losing any colors. Both devices' ultra-wide cameras failed to impress at night though.

For selfies with a facemask on in daylight, the Reno5 4G takes an advantage. Yes, Galaxy A71 can shoot in 4K selfie videos with truer colors the details are noticeably better on the Reno5 4G. The latter also has a wider FOV. Both can shoot 1080P selfie Slow-motion videos. The Reno5 4G is also able to record using Selfie Bokeh mode with Face Beauty technology.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 has a selfie Fast Forward mode via single take while the OPPO Reno5 4G has a dual-view video mode that allows users to shoot using both the selfie and rear cameras simultaneously.

Verdict

The two phones are both capable video shooters. At times, the Samsung Galaxy A71 came out ahead in some scenarios as well as a better ultra-wide-angle camera. But, the OPPO 

Reno5 4G has a better primary shooter for videos. In most scenarios. it was able to produce videos with better details. It is also more feature-packed compared to the Galaxy A71 that allows users to flex their creativity more.

Overall, OPPO is correct. We think that the Reno5 4G is a slightly better video shooting machine.
