The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus is a fairly new processor. It is still powerful enough to be considered one of the best mobile phones SoC in the market now. It is seen in flagship devices and even gaming-focused smartphones as well.

So, seeing the Snapdragon 898 in a Geekbench listing is a pleasant surprise. A vivo device was seen sporting the next-gen SoC and it was able to garner a score of 720 for single-core and 1,919 for the multi-core test. It is seen with a low base frequency of 1.79GHz but this is to be expected for a prototype. The faster frequency will surely be available once it is commercially available.

Furthermore, it seems to be running with a motherboard codenamed "taro" and has the Adreno 730 GPU to boot. It is going to be based on Samsung 4nm process to provide a 20 percent boost in performance from the SD888. The device that ran the test had 8GB of RAM as well.

In terms of networking, the new Snapdragon 898 octa-core processor will feature the X65 5G modem. It is the first 10Gbps modem from the company. As more Chinese companies begin to test the new SoC, we might see the Snapdragon 898 pop up some more. Xiaomi is expected to be the first to launch the first smartphone with the new flagship SoC.
