Flex In & Out

New Samsung foldable displays

The first device that caught our eye is the 12.4" AI Speaker that can be rolled and unfolded using Samsung Display/Flexible Display.

It comes in a cylinder-type speaker body that uses a 12.4-inch OLED that can be activated to unfold using a smartphone app. Then unfolded, it can be used to watch the information you need or even do video calls. When folded (rolled), it shows widgets of the time, date, and weather.

Next is a new foldable display aiming to be tougher and better than the current ones available in the market.

It's a 7.6-inch folding display that can be folded 200,000 times at room temperature and can be unfolded 30,000 times at negative 20 degrees Celcius without any deformation.

Last is a phone with a triple-folding display appearing to copy TCL's tri-fold design.

Samsung notes that it is possible to in-fold and out-fold like an "S" curve. It can even be used to enable split-screen multitasking when you use its 3 displays. When folded, both outer screens fold in onto the middle display at opposite edges.

The body of the display is still enclosed in a prototype case so it appears to be quite thick.

International Meeting on Information Display happed in South Korea last August 25 to 27.

Since these prototype devices are just proof of concepts, for now, do not expect them to hit the market very soon. We may or may not see them as an actual product in the future.

What do you guys think?
