A move to protect users from malicious apps

MIUI Pure Mode is the latest feature of MIUI to further improve its very own Android skin. It is designed to be an optional feature that promises to help users in protecting themselves from malicious applications.

Basically, when this feature is enabled, users cannot install apps from external sources. It also blocks any installation happening in the background without the consent of the user.

As mentioned, it is an optional feature, unlike Apple. So, users can still apps from other sources if they want.

Xiaomi said that they are working on this feature due to the open nature of Android wherein users can easily become a victim of an attack through hostile applications. Xiaomi added that 40 percent of apps installed by MIUI users have never passed its security audit and 10 percent have been recognized as potential risks.

What's unsure is when will the MIUI Pure Mode be available on its stable releases. There is no info if it will be available in international markets as well.
