At the company's Unleashed event, Apple has launched two new MacBook Pros in a 14-inch and 16-inch form factor.

The new laptops are powered by the new 5nm-based Apple Silicon M1 Pro and M1 Max chips that can be configured up to 10-core CPUs, up to 32-core GPUs, up to 64GB unified memory (Unified memory is built with the chip. It can also be used for both RAM and VRAM for the GPU), and up to 8TB storage.

Both chips also come with a 16-core Neural Engine for machine learning. Because of all that power, the new Macs can also connect up to three (3) 6K displays with one (1) 4K TV or display.

Apple claims that the new M1 Pro chip has a memory bandwidth of up to 200GB/s while the new M1 Max has over 400GB/s memory bandwidth.

The body measures 312.6 x 221.2 x 15.5mm and weighs only 3.5 pounds (or 1.6 kg).

While the 16-inch model comes with a 16.2-inch mini-LED backlit Liquid Retina XDR display with up to 1000 nits sustained brightness (or up to 1600 nits peak brightness), 3456 x 2234 resolution, and up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Surrounding the displays of both models are even slimmer bezels but with a notch that houses the new 1080p FaceTime HD camera with an advanced image signal processor.

Both models have removed the touch bar and now comes with a full row of Function Keys with a TouchID sensor.

For audio, the new MacBook Pros come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Three-mic array, and six (6) high-fidelity speaker sound systems with force canceling woofers that support spatial audio, Dolby Atmos.

The new MacBook Pros connect wirelessly thru WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 and connect thru the Three Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) port. What is surprising is that Apple has brought back the SDXC card slot and the HDMI port.

Apple claims that the 14-inch model can last up to 11 hours of wireless web use while the 16-inch model can last up to 21 hours of wireless web use.
MagSafe returns!

The base model 14-inch MacBook Pro with M1-Pro 8-core CPU comes with a 67W USB-C Power Adapter while the upgraded models come with a 96W USB-C Power adapter. All 16-inch models come with a new 140W USB-C Power adapter. Both models charge thru MagSafe or any of the Thunderbolt 4 ports.
