Globe subscribers shifting to 5G devices
In a statement, the Ayala-led telco said more than 860,000 customers were using 5G devices last July as the group has been offering free 4G LTE/5G SIMs and affordable 5G-ready handsets.
We are beginning to see the full potential of 5G technology and its impact in our everyday lives. More of our customers are seeing the benefits of 5G and are upgrading their SIM cards and handsets. We need to accelerate 5G adoption and use in the country so we can catch up and compete with our regional peers, said Issa Guevarra-Cabreira, Globe Chief Commercial Officer.
Globe said the company is committed to rolling out more 5G network infrastructure across the Philippines "in the coming months and years."
Currently, the firm has over 1,800 5G locations in the country covering National Capital Region, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Boracay, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and General Santos.
Residents in Zamboanga will soon enjoy Globe's 5G network as the group targets to equip the province with the technology.
