A "radio-like experience" featuring the artists, songs, and albums on YouTube

Previously, YouTube Music allows background playback for premium members only. This means if you're not paying for the service, you can't play the music and minimize the app at the same time. The playback stops instantly if you switch to another app or turn off the screen.

But now, the company will start rolling out background listening, free of charge. Note that this will be available for users in Canada on November 3, 2021. According to the blog post, this update is a result of several users' requests. It added,

YouTube Music looks to provide its users with the most immersive music experience imaginable. Every new update to YouTube Music begins by listening to people, and we’ve heard you loud and clear: Keep the music playing.

Aside from the nonstop music playing, they will also have access to the radio stations feature and create playlists. If they uploaded any songs, they can also play them at any time.

Moreover, users can also enjoy Google Assistant driving mode. Allegedly, the Assistant driving mode helps drivers get things done while they navigate with Google Maps. It lets them read and send messages, make calls, and control media with their voice, without leaving Google Maps navigation.

However, note that non-premium users will still experience listening to ads. There's no information yet if  YouTube will release this update here in the Philippines in the future so stay tuned.
