PLDT, Smart claim win in telco market

PLDT claimed it continued to be the leader in the Philippine telco market after defeating its competitors in fiber, mobile, and fixed wireless markets in the first nine months of 2021.

PLDT continues to beat competitors

In a statement released Monday, the telco giant said that the PHP 10.6 billion increase in service revenues, which is higher than other players, already proved its prowess despite the heightened competition in the industry.

For its fiber-to-the-home business, PLDT said it recorded 324,000 fiber customers in the third quarter alone. As of end September, its fiber customer count stood at 2.09 million.

Revenues from its Home broadband also reached PHP 31.5 billion, almost double that of the competitor.

PLDT Home is also optimistic it could welcome one million new fiber subscribers this 2021 amid its boosted fiber capacity.

Meanwhile, its wireless arm Smart Communications has the most number of mobile data users at 40 million. Its fixed wireless subscribers also breached the one million mark.
