Winamp recently announced a newly redesigned website, logo, and a new beta signup form.
90's kids would remember Winamp, the media player for PCs that was launched in 1997. It quickly grew its popularity back then but began to fade due to a string of poorly-received updates in the early 2000s.
After that, Winamp attempted a few times to revive the media player. However, it seems it didn't work out. The original version of this media player had v5.666.3516 as the final release.
In 2018, an unfinished build of v5.8 was leaked, and Radionomy (the owner of Winamp) decided to make it publicly available. The company promised more updates, but they never materialized.
Now the Winamp website has been redesigned again, promising an "innovative refresh of the world’s most iconic audio player." However, there's not much available yet but it seems that the new version won't be a regular music player.
One section on the website mentioned that it will have "a unique space for creators" that will "connect closely with […] fans and earn a fairer income."
According to AudioValley (parent company of Shoutcast and Winamp), the new Winamp will "become the one-stop platform for audio enthusiasts, which connects creators and consumers of music, podcasts, radio stations, audiobooks, and any other peripheral content." The site adds,
