A promising camera prototype from OPPO?

With a 50mm equivalent retractable camera!

Based on the teaser, the device will feature a 1/1.56-inch big sensor with 50mm equivalent at f/2.4. Likely, the purpose of this moving camera is for zoom and more realistic bokeh.

1/1.56-inch is as big as the IMX766 from Sony, but OPPO hasn't shared the exact sensor that they are using here yet. 50mm is more or less 2x zoom.

OPPO also teased that this has some sort of water splash resistance and it will retract when dropped similar to pop-up selfie cameras. The other benefit of this camera is it lessens the camera bump the camera is retracted.

The device also has two more cameras and a dual-tone LED flash on the camera island. But, we don't know their purpose yet.

We suspect that this is also a concept device that we won't see in stores in the near future similar to the rollable concept smartphone that the brand teased during the OPPO INNO DAY 2020 last year.

Back in November last year, rival Xiaomi also teased a smartphone prototype with similar technology. OPPO's design just looks more refined and closer to an actual product.

But, let's wait and see.

What do you guys think?
