According to IDC, Acer took a 27 percent market share in the Philippines during the WFH demand of 2021. For the 16th year in a row, Acer also dominated the laptop market in the Philippines, with a record-breaking 33 percent market share in 2021. It has a 30 percent share of the consumer notebook market and a 34 percent share of the gaming notebook market.

Acer had a 31 percent market share in the consumer branded desktop category in 2021, while it topped the consumer All-in-One desktop category with a 52 percent market share. It has a 22 percent market share in the Desktop Monitor category in 2021. Acer sold 561,000 PCs at the end of 2021, up from 394,000 in 2020 and 347,000 in 2019.

In the Philippines in 2021, COVID-19 quarantines and lockdowns fueled an increase in gaming and entertainment-related PC sales too. Acer's gaming notebook sales nearly quadrupled last year, to 113,000 units, up from 75,000 in 2020 and 38,000 in 2019.

However, the global scarcity of semiconductors has caused supply concerns for everything from computers to smartphones. The shortage, according to Acer, is expected to last until at least the second quarter of 2022.

Acer also ramped up its sustainability efforts last year by launching the Earthion initiative, which involves the tech giant's whole ecosystem, from supply chain partners to consumers and staff, in addressing environmental concerns through innovative and integrated solutions.
