IDC: Here are the top 5 tablet vendors in the Philippines last year

Top tablet vendors in the Philippines

According to its Q4 2021 data, the Philippine tablet market grew by 60 percent QoQ (quarter-on-quarter) as smartphone vendors Nokia, realme, and Xiaomi launched their new products in the market. However, it is still down by 44.9 percent year-on-year.

In Q4 2021, Samsung topped the local market by shipping 124.3 thousand units to capture 27.3 percent of the market share. At number 2 is Cherry Mobile with 89.3 thousand units shipped for 19.6 percent of the pie. At number 3 is Lenovo with 64.6 thousand units shipped for 14.2 percent of the market followed by Huawei and realme at number 4 and 5, respectively.

For the entire 2021, Samsung remained on top with 354.6 thousand units shipped which is equivalent to 30.3 percent of the market despite a negative 36.3 percent YOY Growth. At number 2 is Cherry Mobile with 234 thousand units at 20 percent of the pie. Chinese tech titan Huawei is at number 3 with 153.1 thousand units or 13.1 percent of the share. At number 4 is Lenovo and number 5 is Apple.

Since the suspension of face-to-face schooling, the Philippines tablet market has seen massive annual shipments of almost 1.2 million units in 2021. While this was lower than the 1.9 million in 2020, this was still far higher than the sub-million unit markets in pre-pandemic 2018 and 2019, said Angela Medez, Client Devices Market Analyst at IDC Philippines
