The chronological view is back!

The algorithm ranking method is still on by default

Instagram said Wednesday (US time) that users will be able to select from two new ways to display posts in their feed in reverse chronological order.

If you've used Instagram before the rise of algorithmic feeds then the Following tool is familiar to you. This tool allows the user follows to show in the feed in the order the posts were shared.
Which are you going to use? Following or favorites?

On the other hand, the Favorites feature shows the latest posts from a list of specific accounts, such as closest friends and favorite creators. Users can add up to 50 favorites.

The posts from these accounts will show up higher in their home feeds, as indicated by a star icon. Note that people are not notified when they are added or removed from those lists.

How to access Following/Favorites chronological view on Instagram:

  1. Tap on the Instagram logo on the upper left of your screen.
  2. Choose Following or Favorites.
  3. You'll now be able to see your Following posts in reverse chronological order if that's what you picked or your Favorites' if you chose it.

However, the Home is the Feed that users have now. It will remain to have a mix of content that you see today, including ranked content from people you follow, recommended content you may like, and more. Notably, Home will still be the default view, so whenever you come to your Feed, that's what you'll continue to see.

Share the good news away!
